Zeer goed klinkende Engelse Monitor Audio MA4 MK2 luidsprekers 1978

Old English sound ala Rogers. Interesse? Neem dan gerust contact op.

THIS British company has been marketing loudspeakers for just over four years

We reviewed their first model MA1 in June 1974 and the large MA3/II design in October 1976.
The MA4 is well within the budget of many audio enthusiasts and has many other features that make it a serious contender in the L-200 per pair class. First of all it has the “2 cubic feet” dimensions which I feel sure would come out top in any `gallup poll’ for the most popular size of speaker. In parenthesis, I should perhaps state that this is not a favourite size with me personally. It seems a little large for shelfmounting and yet it would be disastrously low down, and playing into the carpet, if one stood it straight on the floor.

Monitor Audio do recommend a plinth or stand, and they offer suitable stands 245mm (9.6 inches) high at 08.12 per pair. This might still be a little low if you sit in a fairly high chair, and I cheated a little by standing the speakers on their own transit cartons—not very scientific, but it brought the tweeters to just the right height.

From this month we have decided to suspend the publication of loudspeaker response curves measured under anechoic conditions. At the present state of the art, there is wide disagreement as to the value of such curves, and several acknowledged experts have emphasized the need for careful interpretation if the curves are to be meaningful to a wide readership. We plead guilty to being the first consumer magazine to publish loudspeaker response graphs, and we have featured them regularly since August 1966. We have found them invaluable for comparison purposes, and we know that many readers have similarly found them helpful, even though strict correlation with the subjective impressions on listening to music has generally not been straightforward.
Research is continuing into measurement techniques which hold out the promise of better correlation between objective tests and the musical performance of speakers in ordinary room conditions. As soon as such a technique has been established, we shall put it into practice. Meantime, we shall give a balanced survey of our subjective impressions following a searching series of listening tests on sound scientific principles, using a wide range of musical sources.
